Podcasting
I’ve never had an epiphany in isolation. There’s been a few times where I have wondered into the woods, so to speak, or locked myself up to ruminate on this or that and emerge with the answer. Never works.
Good ideas tend to come through collaboration, through challenging discussions with smart people, through getting out in the world and shaking hands or giving hugs, asking people challenging questions, and then shutting the fuck up to listen to what they have to say.
You can’t get your wheels turning alone on an island. Ideas spark ideas, and talking to people is energizing.
This is why I podcast. If you’ve ever listened to the Phil Bak Podcast you might have noticed that it is not branded by Armada, that I am not selling anything, that I don’t have a specific target listener, and that the topics I highlight coincide with the topics I personally find myself curious about at any given time.
The podcast is a luxury, it is a self indulgence, it is a creative outlet, and it is the thing I enjoy more than anything else I do.
The podcast gets my wheels turning. And my hope is that it does the same for you.
I recorded three podcasts recently, and I am proud of these episodes and wanted to share them here. All three are different. I’ll highlight them below, and will be back to using this format for long form writing after this post.
I have a long form post coming soon about how constraints breed innovation, and another about branding and marketing in the fund space, and if I’m lucky enough that the Muse decides to show up, you’ll be getting those in your inbox soon.
Until then, let’s see if any of these discussions spark your interest:
Podcast #1: Michael Green: Broken Markets
We talk about whether market structure is broken - and how to play it. We contrast the Wisdom of Crowds vs Winner's Curse, we talk about credit spreads, market cycles, fed policy, the thin veneer of liquidity, and more
